Try New Things

 September 30, 2016
Try New Things
Sometimes we get caught up in routines and doing things the same way for so long. Which is okay because I understand we all have certain methods of doing things. However, it’s always good to try new things and explore different approaches. Whether you’re an artist that paints, draws, takes photos, or anything creative. Exploring new horizons is what helps us grow, it keeps our minds flourishing. Trying new techniques and different methodologies recalibrates our brain. It could also bring inspiration and new ideas for your creativity. Make sure to take a break from the “norm” and explore new perceptions. Do not be afraid to take risks and try new things because it will only make you a better creative entity.

When we start to become use to the same old same old, we hinder our ability to become better creative individuals. It kills our thinking and dampens our creative drive. The best way to overcome this problem is try something you never would do. I know it might be uncomfortable at first but that’s the beginning stage of overcoming those suspicions. Once you’re able to allow yourself to try something new. Reflect on the things that you liked and didn’t like about it. You might be surprised at the outcome. I’ve tried this approach before with my photography, I allowed myself to step outside my ordinary bubble for a moment. Once I did that I learned that new things are not so bad. It even sparked some inspiration for new ideas. Explore new horizons and don’t be afraid to get outside of your normal routine for a moment.

Express Yourself Freely

 September 22, 2016
Express Yourself Freely
From an adolescent I became obsessed with creating art because the authority it gave me. It gave me the power to create and let my imagination run wild. I was able to expand my creative thinking and allow my mind to do whatever it wanted. This is what I call “Expressing yourself freely”; it’s the ability to let your creative drive and imagination take over. Putting all distractions aside and focusing on what’s in front of you. Sometimes as creative people we tend to allow so many things to hinder our mind. The best way to get over this heap is let go and express yourself; in anyway that fuels that creative drive.
I always carry a field note pad with me because I can take it anywhere. The reason why I take it is because it allows me to sketch-out ideas quickly. Whenever I have idea for something I’m able to get that idea down quick. There’s a liberating feeling when we have the advantage to express our ideas. When the pencil touches the paper it gives us the benefit to express our mind freely. Sketching our ideas also helps us to not forget. Sometimes all it takes is a quick sketch to help organize our thoughts.

Anytime I find myself in a “creative block” I push through by doing productive and creative things. What I mean by creative block is when we have moments when our inspiration has barriers. It hinders our ability to create anything for whatever reason. A good way to overcome this feeling is to create your way through it. Make it mandatory to do creative things you love to do, even though you have a barrier in front of you. Sometimes that’s all it takes to ignite that flame inside of you. Let go and empress yourself freely!

Finding Your Visual Identity

 September 16, 2016
Finding Your Visual Identity
Discovering your creative individuality is a crucial essence of any artist. Its what sets you apart from any other creative individuals. Finding your unique flair is what makes you creative. Your visual identity is basically a reflection of your character. Any person can mimic a certain type of style or esthetic. However, replicating another person’s creativity does nothing for you. It might motivate you to try to something similar. Just be aware that we all need to find our own creative personality. Adding your own character and visual element is what allows you to be creative. I like to think of our visual identity as our own personal trademark. It’s our distinctiveness that people will start to take notice of. The key idea is learning how to unlock your unique creative potential.

One of the best ways of discovering that visual identity is unlocking your creative instincts. What I mean by that is embracing your creative desires and character. Knowing your individuality and artistic force is what will ultimately reveal your potential. Another aspect of finding that identity is not allowing fear to hold you back. Most of the time people are too afraid to try new things. They are held back by their insecurities, anxiety, and fear of failure. The key to overcoming this is letting go and embracing your creative drive. Who cares what people may think, their opinions are not going to get you nowhere. It’s your determination and desire that will make great things happen.

Finding Inspiration

    September 7, 2016
Finding Inspiration
Searching for inspiration is an important principle of any creative individual. Inspiration is what sparks the creative force behind any brilliant idea. It gives people the aspiration to make their ideas a reality. All great things derive from a simple idea fueled by inspiration. It’s these ideas that allow the creative spirit to fluctuate and help correspond visual content. Inspiration gives us an idea of what our creative thoughts could possibly look like. However, it’s our own imagination that sets us apart from other people.
The main motive behind inspiration is to get your creative thoughts flowing. It helps construct your ideas in a more organized matter, focusing on the important elements. For example, say you were working on a creative logo design project for school. And your goal is to create a logo for a local coffee shop in your town. However, you’re going to need some sort of inspiration to get your mind thinking. So that’s why it’s a good idea to look at outside sources such as websites, books, magazines, and social media. These are great sources to look because it gives you ideas for layouts, artwork, style, composition, and fonts. It gets your creative drive running in the right direction.

It’s always great to be inspired by other people’s work. Sometimes looking at the visual content of other individuals can be inspiring. Though, we need to understand the difference between inspiring and stealing. Inspiring is taking the certain aspects of what another person has done and implementing it in your own way. Stealing is basically taking what another person has created and calling it your own. In the end, we all inspire each other one way or another. Inspiration is needed to keep our creative thoughts running.

You Are Creative

    September 2, 2016
You Are Creative
I believe creativity is one of the main essences that make us human. We all have a creative spirit that drives us to use our imagination. I strongly believe that all people are capable of being creative regardless of any disbelief. Its what makes us different and unique from one another, it allows us to take ideas and put them into fruition. However, the most common issue is that many people think they don’t have any creativity.
One of the best ways to overcome any sort of doubt/insecurity is knowing your true potential. You have to understand that you already have the creativity to make something. It’s the amount of time and effort you put into your craft that will get you to where you want to be, which goes for everything in life. The more you invest your time, the better you will become. Creativity comes naturally though because it’s a trait we all have instilled within us. Its just putting that creativity into motion that most people need help with. They don’t know where to start an idea or how to get things moving. It’s more of a methodical process that needs to be flexed or trained.
My main point is that every single individual has creativity. We all have that feature implanted within us all. Sure some people are just more skilled at certain things than others. Which is completely fine because we’re all unique in our own ways. If you’re willing to take risk and not be afraid to make mistakes then you’re already making good progress.
